Long time no post!/312in366 Challenge

Oi, I haven't been on here in a while! Please accept my apologies for that. =)

During my absence, I have worked, gone through a corn maze, been to a play (friend's high school production of "Anything Goes." The. Best. Play. I have ever been to!), taken several more square dancing lessons, done some sketching of random objects, and skillfully avoided even thinking about the Christmas Card.
I've also acquired two new dresses (for a grand total of about $7, and 2 of those $ were for fabric to lengthen one), a new favourite sweater, and half a masquerade mask. (Half? um, yeah, I need to go finish it..)

What else am I up to these days?

Oh, let's see. Altering said dresses, for one thing, creating the masquerade mask for another. (I found a really cool tutorial on Youtube somewhere, where you take 5-10 pieces of tin foil, crumple, uncrumple, and stack them, then you mold it to your face, draw where you want the mask shape to be, and cut it out. Then tape the edges together with masking or painters' tape, Papier-mâché over it--I used Modpodge--and then glue on what you want. I just modpodged on some old newsprint we had, to give it structure. I've put a layer of plain white fabric on the back already, so it's a bit softer. Next I'll be putting white fabric on the front, and some gold mesh over that. It's taking me a while, but it's not hard at all. Just sticky!)
This weekend, my parents, sister, and I are going to the ICHE Young Adult Conference--a day-long...seminar, I guess you'd call it? I don't know much about this year's program, but last year was really good, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow! (Except for the 'get up by 5 and leave by 7' part of it ... )

Another thing I'm working on is the 312in366 Art Challenge!
The goal of this Challenge is to draw/paint for 10 minutes a day, 6 days a week, from January to December 2012. It's called "312in366" because you'll make 312 drawings in the 366 days of this coming leap year, and spend a total of two days and four hours drawing.
I figured 10 minutes was a safe thing to ask for, because it doesn't sound like as much as 15 does, but it's still enough time to get something done! You should go check out the blog, or the Facebook Page, or the Twitter account. My synopsis here is oodles shorter and simplified from the official description, but please go check it out, and join the Challenge!

So yes, that's what I've been up to lately. Just busy enough to not have much spare time at all! What are you doing?

I'll Add a Good Title Later...Maybe

Congratulate me: I have completed two more of my 12X2012 goals!! (link coming later)

  • Finish my first year working at JoAnn's

Goal reached on September 20th.
It's been an interesting year, mostly good. Quite often I'm exhausted by the time I get home, occasionally people there (99% customers) make me mad, but I'm thankful for the money and the experiences this job has given me.

  • Ride my green bike down the Hill of No Return/Great-Granddaddy of All Hills

Done. With my brother and three friends on...I think it was October 3rd.
The fields were gorgeous with the trees starting to change colours out there. The weather was in the low 70*s, which is perfect for biking in, if the sun is out.
We took about an hour and a half to go down, around a loop to the Big Hill, and then back home (I really should find out how many miles that was--once I do find out I'll let you know). There were cranes of some sort in a partially-harvested field of corn, and woolybear caterpillars, and a good stretch of road almost covered with run-over snakes. =( I was hoping for a live one in the midst of all that carnage, but there wasn't one. *sigh*
(I've always wanted to run across--or almost across and then stop before actually CROSSING it--a snake while out on a bike ride. So I can stop and go all Steve Irwin over it. ;)
It was a lovely bike trip, and I hope I have one more chance to go out on my lovely green bike before the weather turns nasty at the end of the week! (And yes, I used 'lovely' twice in the same sentence. Geddoverit.)

I'm on the library computer right now, so I'm running out of time tonight. I'll add pictures and links and such when I get home and an copy-and-paste them in. Can you imagine that? A computer with no copy-and-paste abilities? Sad, isn't it.

(I fixed all that now. :)

Hey hey hey!

Hey howdy! I'm working on a longer blog post for next week, but in the mean time here are a few things for y'all to check out!
A). My friend Heather has re-covered this super-cute child's rocking chair and has it up for auction on Ebay until about 9:00 TONIGHT. The proceeds from that are going to fund her six-week trip to India as a missionary's assistant/missionary and delivers wheelchairs to disabled people there who need them. So check that out, pass it along, bid on it if you're interested. (But before 9:00 tonight.)

B) You can wait for this and read it later. 'Cause I haven't got anything for B yet.

12X2012: Swimming

So, I had

  • Go swimming once or twice.
on my 12X2012 list. Done. Once.
We went on our long bike ride, and were planning on going down the Hill of No Return. But, as the day was hot, and our other friends lived on this one road, we chose not to.*
We swung by their house, to kidnap the two girls, only to find that they had had their phone in hand, literally about to call us up! Talk about timing! They wanted us to go swimming with them in their pool at one o'clock. The three of us decided that was feasible. The two kidnapp-ees packed sandwiches and joined their three kidnappers as we cycled to the cemetery.
The day was lovely, and hot, but lovely all the same. The breeze was blowing, and we found ourselves a nice, grassy spot in the shade, on the outer fringes of the graveyard. (Yes, we were technically inside the fence, but a ways away from the nearest gravestone.)
Luckily we had purchased two (itty-bitty) peaches apiece from the local farm market, so there were enough for all. And we had chips, and sandwiches, and veggies, and candy sticks. Plus KK ever-so-kindly bought me not one, but Two apple cider donuts. (for which I am VERY grateful. They were lovely.)
After the eating, we played one round of Dutch Blitz (I want to play more!) and parted ways. The kidnapp-ees back to their abode and the three of us to ours, so we could gather our swim gear.

Off to the pool we went, where I spent several hours splashing and floating, and actually became tan. I've been feeling so pale this year because I'm not outside nearly enough! But the 5.5 hours in the sun that day took care of any paleness I may have had. If I end up with skin cancer from too much exposure to the sun, at least it's well-gotten tan, not just lying-out-in-the-sun-to-tan tan! Haha.

So yes, that's what I've been up to. I don't know if I'll have much time for posting next week! I'm working every day but Wednesday, and boy, this'll be a nice check! ;) I don't care for long hours until after I'm done with them and I pick up my check. THEN I love them!

(The following pictures are from waaaaaay back at our old house. They're at least 3 years old. Back when we formed proper 'in order of age' stair steps!)

~Kiwi da TannedFruit~

*(or maybe we just took the wrong turn, and turned a road early, and didn't feel like going UP the H.o.N.R. just so we could go back DOWN it.)

Late-At-Night Post

I'm working on plans for another of my 12X2012 accomplishments.

  • Take a bike trip to the Hill of No Return on my green bike.

Almost half of that has been accomplished. My bike is now fixed, all I need now is a free afternoon! Perhaps I should have said simply 'take a bike trip.' That is going to happen, Lord willing, Thursday morning/noon/afternoon. Two of my friends and I shall pack a picnic lunch, bike to the nearby farm market to purchase donuts and peaches and the like, then start pedaling down a back road or two. At the moment, the chosen destination is a cemetery a few miles away. We might stop and eat at a park between here and there, as others may not find our choice to lunch in a cemetery so...appetizing. Perhaps we won't stop there at all, maybe we'll just continue and find a brand new spot. =) I love not planning everything and getting to make choices on whims.
And I'm also curious, can anyone else see the picture in my last post, of the bike? It's disappeared.
Good night, my lovelies! ;)

12X2012: Bike

  • Have my green bike fixed. Again.

First thing crossed off my list! Dad replaced the tire & inner tube last night, and I'm hoping to get a bit of riding in today before I go to work! The picture isn't of my bike, but it's one very similar. The most noticeable difference is that my bike is a girl's bike. And doesn't have reflectors. But it's the same colour/style.
I'm very close to my "Finish my first year at JoAnn Fabrics," only have three weeks and five days left until that one's crossed off as well. =)

Life Updates.

So far, I haven't been able to take my second Unicycle Riding Class. Which is too bad. Because it's not really something you can learn without practicing, is it? No.
And I haven't quite gotten my green bike fixed. I talked to the dude at the bike repair place about a tire, but he won't have any new tires in until Friday. And they're $15 apiece. Ooog. There go more dineros. But maybe it'll be worth it--maybe this one will last more than a year and a half! It's cheaper than buying a new bike, anyway.

We have a scheme in the works, which involves biking and picnicking (<--oddly-spelled word) and swimming and camping. Possibly. Biking and eating, of course! Swimming--perhaps. Camping--er, we'll see. It would involve schedules cooperating (<--another oddly-spelled word), and permissions, and plans. But that would take care of several of my 12X2012's, such as the "Take a bike trip down the Hill of No Return on my green bike" one and the "Go swimming once or twice" one also.

I'm starting to half-toy with the idea of checking out another blog site, like Wordpress or something, but I dunno. Do I really neeed to start another blog, when this one isn't posted in enough, anyway? But as it is, I get bored on here in the evenings but don't want to go to bed. So I sit here, online, with abso-youtly nothing to do. Facebook isn't cooperating today, Twitter's boring, Facebook's normally a bit boring, too. The messageboards I'm part of aren't all that busy tonight. Game sites are full of stupid teenage boys who think that by saying 'hi' in the chatbox I'll fall desperately in love with them and agree to be their 'girlfriend.' (although I still haven't figured out how THAT works, since it'd be a 10,000% online 'relationship...' Talk about stupid.) Plus I'm bored with those games.

I should go. Either go to bed, or go read, or something. I should have been working with my Mum tonight, because I got a new dress (free!! I love it. Long story... =), but it's size 12 and I'm not. Thankfully she knows how to alter and take clothes in somewhat. And I'd like to have it done in time for my friend's wedding on Saturday (hahaha, like that'll happen. O well.).

Toodle-pip, I'll see y'all later! =)

Second post in a week! You guys are getting lucky!

So, I figured I'd do another post, since I felt like it. Maybe I'll mention my latest venture, something I should have included on my 12X2012 post. Ah, yes, the Unicycle.
Odd-looking device, isn't it? And quite difficult to balance on, let me tell you! I had Emmy on one side and KK on the other, and STILL couldn't quite balance. Because of the lack of balance, I now have a big ol' scrape on the inside of my knee from the tire rubbing.
But, since my first lesson, I'm a far more experienced unicycleist than most of you are. I think that when I complete one of my 12X2012 challenges, I'll replace it with
  • Learn to ride the unicycle without people propping me up.

12 X 2012

I feel like I should blog again, but I'm not sure of what to talk about.
How about a Twelve Things to Do by 2012 list?
Okay, I'll try that.

  • Finish my first year at JoAnn Fabrics. (Already 10.5 months into that, but I'll put it on here anyway.)
  • Have my green bike fixed. Again. (Popped a tire last fall and haven't gotten around to replacing it. Constantly wishing I had it to ride, though)
  • Learn to ride the unicycle. (I had my very first lesson tonight, and I have to say it went...so-so. Did you know you can fall 360 directions off a unicycle? Yep, mhm, you can. And I have a tire-burn on the inside of my right knee.)
  • Wean myself off Facebook for 1 day a week. Or maybe just check it once on that day. (that'll be my Blogging Only day, so I get some more posts up here!)
  • Go to one or two more concerts. (Preferably 3. Downhere would be great, or I hear that Michael W. Smith is doing a FREEEEE one in Milwaukee in August! Maybe if I can't go to the family reunion that weekend, if my boss doesn't give me those days off, I'll rustle up a group to go there.)
  • Take an art class maybe. That would mean buckling down and Actually Doing some Artwork, but I might be able to manage that.
  • Teach my brother math. (He's 4th grade, and Mom had me helping the past couple months with his math work, but then school kinda trickled off for the summer.)
  • Make a snow sculpture like THIS one, only different.
  • Start making small items to sell on Etsy, and have an Etsy shop set up by this time next year. (I know that's been my goal for a few years now, but maybe I'll actually do it this time?)
  • Take a bike trip to the Hill of No Return on my green bike. (It's super-steep, and has railroad tracks and a near-right-angle turn at the bottom. How much more danger can this girl handle? Rhetorical question.)
  • Plan my Twenty Trip. (When my sister & parents had to go to Las Vegas for her college course, they promised that they'd take each of the rest of us on a trip when we turned twenty. Well, guess how old I'll  be next March? Um, yeah, that's a bit scary....)
  • Go swimming once or twice.

I might change it up some between now and 2012, but that's what I have right now. I challenge readers of this blog to do the same--find 12 things you want to do before twenty-twelve, and blog about them!

A Thought That Ended up Millions of Times Deeper That I'd Intended.

Nope, I'm not dead. Much as many people may wish I were, I'm not. ;)

It's too bad I'm not that well-hated. I mean, having everyone love me is great, but if I'm hated it must be for a reason. Would I be hated as Jesus was hated, for speaking the truth even when it hurts people? Or hated as, say, Hitler or Hussein. Would I be hated for doing what's right, and have all the evil people hate me, or for being a horrible, murderous monster, and having Christians hate me?
I hope that, if I am hated by anyone, it is for imitating Christ.

Super Duper quick post about a giveaway

Thanks to a friend of mine, who's giveaway I won the other week, I was notified about another cool giveaway someone else is doing. It's for a necklace. That's kinda cute. =)

Here's a link to her blogpost: Pastor's Girl's Ponderings

I'd put more on here about it, but I'm running out of time to enter, and out of computer time tonight. So go check out her blog, and while you're at it you go look at my last blog entry about Hugs....

Describe A Hug Challenge

I wrote the following for a writing challenge on Facebook. Unfortunately, I either didn't see or totally forgot about the 150 word limit! But I can't let all this go to waste--it's 1,096 words I've written there! So here is/was my entry for the "Describe A Hug" Challenge on Facebook.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I say a hug is worth even more than a picture.

A hug can say.....

"I love you!
I missed you.
I am sorry.
It will be okay.
Hi there!
Don't leave me.
I am so proud of you!
I forgive you.
Are you okay?
I am here for you.
I don't understand a word you're saying because you're crying so hard but you look like you really need a hug.
Don't worry.
I need you here now.
My precious little one!
Will you forgive me?
He is gone.
Thank you.
You are incredible.
Don't cry.
I kind of like you a lot..
I will keep you safe.
I will miss you.
I can't believe you came!
It's been far too long.
I can help you,
You crack me up!
I will love you, no matter what!
I hate you.
You're crazy but I love you anyway!
I am proud to have you as a friend.
I don't deserve you, but I'm so glad to have you anyway!
Please don't let me go.
I accept you for who you are.
Thank YOU for accepting me for the way *I* am!
You are just too cool for words.
Can you make it better?
What's up?
I need your help.
I don't want to loose you.
You are important in my life.
I hate to see you go!
I'll listen to your problems and make everything okay, I promise.
You're terrific!
You can count on me.
I'm sorry I disappointed you.
How was your day?
What can I do to help?
You are so cute!
I will be your shoulder to cry on.
I'll stand by you.
Here is a free hug for you!
I didn't really mean that!
Welcome back!
Where have you been? I was worried about you!
I think you're really special.
I'll see you again soon.
You're so sweet.
I'm so glad to see you again!
You're beautiful.
Please don't forget me.
Congratulations, you did it!
I will be your friend when everyone else is gone.
You look very nice today!
Sorry you're sick, get well soon.
I won't see you again, goodbye.
You're pretty cool.
You adorable thing!
You're squeezable!
You're such a weirdo but I love it!
I like you, but not enough to kiss you.
You are hilarious!
I just want you near to me.
I will take care of you.
I'm safe here.
Please love me back!
I value you highly.
I'll lead you through this night.
Trust in me.
It's alright!
I'm planting a tracking device on the back of your shirt.
I need you.
Don't do this to me!
I love you too much to let you do that.
I understand.
Let's be friends.
I wanted to do this for you.
Don't give up!
I am so happy for you!
I like you.
I'm glad we are friends.
We can do it!!
Love me!
I'm in love with you!
You smell good.
I'll comfort you.
I adore you.
You gave me hope when I had none.
Together we can make it through this trial.
I'm always there for you, no matter what.
I'm cold, hug me!
I don't want to leave!
I'm checking you for concealed weapons.
I want to cuddle.
Hold me close and never let me go.
Stay with me!
I love you far too much to let you do that to yourself!
I can't believe you did that for me!
Why do you have to go?
When will you be back?
Is this really for me?
You didn't have to do that!
Don't worry, I've got you covered.
How could you love someone like me?
Supper was delicious, dear.
Don't worry, Mommy's here,
Why didn't we talk about this before?
Are you really real?!
Thanks for sharing the last cookie.
You're too kind.
Good night.
That was a perfect first date!
Could you do something for me?
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me today.
Let me pray for you.
CHOCOLATE!!! Thank you thank you thank you! You are the Bomb dot com!
I loved the concert!
You will never cease to amaze me.
I love you too much for words!
I'm hugging you so I can talk to the person behind you.
I need you to hug me back and make me feel better.
I'm sick...but don't worry, I'm not contagious!
I'm so tired I could cry.
Why don't you love me anymore?
i'm so strong I can pick you up, Daddy!
What kind of perfume is that you're wearing?
Did I ever tell you how much you mean to me?
Mommy, Mommy, pick me up!
Surprise! Guess who!
I am picking your pocket.
This will make a cute profile picture!
Bear hug!
Thank you for sticking with it
You're like a big ol' teddy bear
Hey, Honeychild, how've ya been?
I have you and you're mine forever!
I like your soft fleece jacket.
Aaaa! A mouse ran across my feet! Save me!
Long time no see ol' buddy ol' pal!
Whisker rub!
Glad to meet you.
You are impossible, but I still love you!
We were made for each other!
I like that you like me.
The card was just what I needed.
Ooop, here comes my ex-boyfriend. Act like you like me!
There wasn't a napkin handy so I used the back of your shirt.
I'm hot, sweaty, and stinky and I know you'll hate me after this but...here's a hug!
Why aren't you smiling? Here, maybe this will cheer you up.
I can't believe my baby's growing up!
Take care of her.
You are my favourite teacher.
Happy April Fool's Day! with any luck you won't notice the 'kick me' sign for a while...
I appreciate what you're doing for me.
There's nothing you can say or do to make me love you more.
Of course I'll marry you!
Good morning.
I've been thinking about you a lot.
You don't have bad breath.
Don't freak out that I'm in your personal space, I just wanted to hug you.
We'll be friends forever and ever amen!
Pretty please with sugar on top?
You're not getting away from me this time!
I wish this hug could take the pain away.
You can cry on my shoulder.
It's really great to see you again!
You're fantastic.
I'll hold you until everything is alright again."

....and a few hundred other things, if you stop to think about it. How much is a hug worth to you? What are your hugs saying?

Adorable video that should go more viral than "Charlie Bit my Finger" did

Yes, the title says it all. We watched that "Charlie Bit my Finger" video a few weeks back, after hearing some friends rave about how cute/funny it is. It's not all that funny. Nope. And it doesn't have even half the cute-factor this one does!!

Adorable, isn't he? I love listening to little kids talk and tell stories. =)

On Blogging, and How to Do it Properly.

This is my two-hundred and twenty-fifth post on here. In case you were curious.

I read an article the other day, where they said that if you want other people to read your blog, you have to blog about things your readers are interested in, and not talk all about you. Hm. The thing is, I don't quite know who reads this anymore, what they're interested in, and what I could say about the things they're interested in.
It also said that people don't like poorly-written blogs. Or, even if it's interestingly written, poor grammar and spelling deters readership. I don't think I have that problem. I can't stand typos.
Another is the music players set on auto-play. I can sort of understand that. They do sort of freak me out when I don't realize the volume's all the way up, and Skillet starts playing! I like it when they have them at the top of the page, and 'start it yourself.' But I still read those, I just make sure to have the speakers turned down at first, or scroll to the music box really quick and stop it.

I think the next post I do will be a very opinionated review of Disney's latest movie, Lemonade Mouth. It's stupidish. But, I won't tell about it here--rants were probably frowned upon in that article as well. And it would deprive me of an idea for my 226th post.

Photobucket

Now, on the other side of this post, I have her actual blog button. ---->

The List of Good Things

Kristen, who is Among the Gently Mad, posted a post with this title two days ago, and so I thought I'd give it a shot myself. She made a list of good things that happened that day. Since it's still morning, however, I'm going to tell about some good things that happened yesterday.

  • We got to go to the library. I could have spent longer there, but the time I DID get there was nice.
  • We had a fun time looking for graduation cards to send to a friend. Sometimes it's amusing to read all the horrid, sappy cards about "You've graduated, now go find yourself, be yourself, you're the best You there could ever be...." and " Graduation is a time to celebrate your achievements, prepare for a future of opportunities and embrace a world of infinite possibilities." "Dream big/Reach far/Shine brightly/You're a star, Congratulations on your Graduation!" "Follow your dreams for they will always lead you in the right direction." Awwwww..... Unfortunately, we didn't find a good one. =/
  • I went to work, and work went okay. I'm supremely glad that I didn't have to handle one irrational lady, who held us responsible for the scissors that someone didn't sharpen properly.
  • It was NICE and WARM yesterday, with a good breeze keeping it from being too hot.
  • I had enough time on my lunch break to walk down to McDonalds (which I wouldn't normally choose to eat from, but between eating that and dying of hunger...)
  • We got the closing stuff done in time for me go leave 15 minutes early, instead of the regular 15 minutes late. =)
Give me some time and I'll come up with a few more. In the mean time, what good things happened to you yesterday/today?

Unbuilders INC

Some friends and I recently Unbuilt a fence! I'm putting up a few pictures here, then the rest shall appear on my Photo Blog in the next few days.

I think I had a grand ol time, even though it was work! Work is more enjoyable with friends. =)

Untitled

I dreamed that Mother had repainted the dining room ( despite the fact that we just finished repainting, rearranging, and decorating!) in a rather brightish yellow. And then proceeded to add yellow accents all over.

Yellow-on-yellow does not work.

I wish that while at work I could say more than I do. To the little girl with a scar on her lip (from cleft palate?) who was sweet and pretty, but obviously self-conscious. Or the girl who kept the left side of her face turned away, but I caught a glimpse of some sort of scar on her cheek. Both pretty young girls, and I wanted to tell them that! But you can't really just say, "Ten dollars, twenty-three cents, and, by the way, you're beautiful just the way God made you."
I hope both of those girls have someone to tell them that.

Hey-dee-Hi-dee-Ho

Facebook is stupid. Not really stupid-stupid, just boring stupid. It's something that one really oughtn't spend all day on, because so few people have anything to say while you're on, and so you sit there reading boring stuff over & over again.

And Blogger's doing something weird: I'm typing in Bernhard Something-or-other font instead of my regular font.  And now it's back to normal. Odddddd.

Here are a few pictures from the corner of our dining room. We recently re-painted and rearranged the room, and then in the past couple weeks, Mom added this:

Rainbow Monday--stolen post idea

My friend does something she calls "Rainbow Wednesday," where she posts pictures each....Wednesday. So I'm stealing her idea, renaming it "Rainbow Monday," (or something like that) and doing it myself. I hope she doesn't mind my thievery too much. =)

Snowed In and Bored...

We were snowed in today (Probably yesterday by the time I publish this), and got a bit bored, so I decided to document our adventures! These were taken with a computer's webcam, so they're not the best quality, but I thought you might enjoy them. =)

I discovered some interesting camera settings:

This next one is using the 'sharpen' setting. I was getting so bored that I was ready to clean and pack up! You know you're bored when...

...you voluntarily clean and watch the sheets dry!

I was amused by the dog, though.

Finally wore out my slippers, I think. I looked down and there were several more holes than usual. =/ I'll miss 'em.

Made a delicious pot-roast for supper! A bit dry in the end (hence the gravy), but tender as can be and not bad for a first try, even if I do say so myself! =)

Now we're watching Dick Van Dyke episodes (It may look like a walnut....) and chilling on the computers. =)

Boy, this day was exhausting! ;) Goodnight!
(here's where Kiwi would sign, but she's asleep right now.)

A few of my most recent favorite videos

Odd mix of videos here! I've got a music video from The City Harmonic, and then *SPOILER ALERT!!* several from Tangled. If you haven't seen Tangled yet, you may not want to watch  them. They're from some of the best scenes. Enoy! =)

Ho-*yawn*-Hum!

I'm trying to finish PowerPoint for church tomorrow. Tomorrow's only 34 minutes away. I've gotten most of the sermon & songs done, just announcements left! Rrrgh, how I dislike this!
It's not usually this bad. I'm usually doing it at home, on my own computer, where all the sites and passwords are saved, I have an actual MOUSE instead of a touch-pad, and there is plenty of chocolate to eat while Pointing Powerfully.
But I'm not there.
Sis & I are dog/cat/house/plant sitting for a while. I'm on my employer's laptop, which is rather nice but also rather irritating. It has a stylus and touch screen--I can draw directly on the computer to Paint or whatev. But there's no mouse, which makes highlighting, copying, and dragging more difficult. My computer has PowerPoint 2011, this one has '07. I usually keep track of when I have 'Point, but I thought I didn't have any until next week. (Come to think of it, I already did 'Point this month! Oh, wait, there's 5 Sundays.)

I think I'm going to give up for now and go to bed. The sermon's done (which is important), the songs are done (they're important, too), the annoucements are not done (does anyone really read them off the screens anyway? They're in the bulletin.). I'll just slap somethin' together really quick tomorrow morning, either here or at church. I'd prefer to do something fancy, but procrastinators can't be choosers, can they?

P.S. Remember that Winter Jam concert? A week ago? Wait 'til I get the pictures on my computer, and then on here!! They're AWEsome! =D

Nothing more can go wrong today

I left a bit later for work than I wanted to, and it took me five minutes to get out of the driveway--I was a few minutes late for work. Can't get worse than that.
Then I realized that I didn't have my food. Certainly can't get worse.
My boss told me she needed to talk with me, and I wouldn't be happy. What did I do now?! Nothing. Just that the paychecks of three or four employees were not sent, therefore I didn't get paid today and might not get the check until Monday or Tuesday. How could it get worse?
I felt a bit sick to my stomach before I left, but that left by the time I arrived. Instead I got a bad headache. Seriously, it's a Friday, it cannot legally get any worse.
I slammed my finger in the drawer. That hurt.
Fifteen minutes before five, I hear loud arguing and look over to see two people arguing with one of the managers. They didn't feel like the Prefered Guests they're supposed to feel like when they go to JoAnn's. and it was all the manager's fault, and the other worker's fault, and I had to run registers for these people! Who were griping the Whole Entire Time, and going over what they were going to say when they called the complaint line and tattled on us. I like this manager. I could hear, and she was being very nice to them, and very patient. And then they decided to hate me, too.
"$6.33 is your total."
"Six? $6?!? that's not right. [angryangryangry] I want that fixed! What's your name? Oh, nametags. Nice of them to have those."
"I have to check and find out which is wrong: the cutting slip or the registers."
"It's the manager's fault."
"No, sir, it's"
"no, not your fault, just the manager and that other girl who don't.."
"No, sir, it's our"
"Know what? I don't care."
"The problem is not"
 "I'm done."
"THE PROBLEM is NOT her's or Jen's, it's the server today, it shut down. People are working on it, but there's nothing that Jen, or Jess, or I can do about it, sir."
"Well we don't care, we're never coming back here again. We'll stick with Hancock's [muttermuttermutter] Don't put it in that bag! I don't want it sticking out the top. Put it in a larger one."
I've worked here for four months, lady, I know what size bag will hold it by now. I'll put it in the too-big bag for you, anyway. You're welcome.
But I didn't say that.

In a rather strange way, that made me happy. Because Absolutely Nothing More can go wrong after all that. =)
~Kiwi da Tired Out and Ready for Bed Fruit~

P.S. Just remembered that yesterday was my 4 month anniversary at JoAnn's! Seems like a lot longer.
Oh, and my last paycheck was problematic, too. See, they paid me for five hours when I'd worked more like 40+. Oops. So I had to wait half a week for the rest of my check. Hope there're no more problems with that!
