Phebruary Phashion Photos (I had to alliterate!)

This month, my friend HMS Avalon is our model. (She makes a great model! Maybe we should have her do it every month!)

Miss Avalon is wearing jeans from Sears, a White Stag sweater, and an op cami. Jewelry is her own (mostly antique).

"[the] Chinese pattern on over-size black sweater makes it warm but keeps a fresh outlook going into spring (soon hopefully :P)"

I love her sense of style, especially with that large medallion necklace! Avalon has the most unique wardrobe and style of all of my friends, I think. Especially since she has three sisters with whom she can swap clothes, so it's about four times the size of mine! One of these days I'll have to sneak over there and spirit away some of those outfits!

Thanks Avalon!
Let me know if the pictures are large enough. When I tried to enlarge them they got a little pixely and didn't think you'd want that, but if they aren't big enough to see well I'll go ahead and do that. =)

Videos

As three out of the four voters said to continue with the fashion photo posts once a month, the series will make its second appearance this Saturday. (My apologies to the person who voted against it, but that's the way it works in a democracy. C= Oh, and out of curiosity, who are you and why didn't you want me to continue the series?)

But you'll have to wait until Saturday to see the pictures. I'll set it to automatically post at noon central time. In the meantime, you can watch these videos from Kutless, DC Talk, and Marc Martel, if you wish.

Kutless:

(Radio needs to play this song and Kutless's other songs more often!)

Marc Martel of Downhere: (Not sure why I like this song so much, but I do! Originally by Queen, and this sounds almost identical to the Queen version.)

Queen: (Just to prove that they sound the same. Oh, and don't watch the video, just listen to it. There's nothing terrible about it, just the people in it are creepy-weird and dressed in weird-weird costumes.)

DC Talk: (Thought it was interesting enough to put on here. Words are below)

I am solo in this world of water
Only the tip of a sunrise visible
Like the morning light in a little girl's eyes
I crave this freedom
I find it only in this little ship
Just my soul and this bread and butter
I am comfortable
But there is a treason at sea
Is it me?
It is a wonder, supernatural cover of war
The dark ones who eternal in damnation grow
Set about me now
How they whine and crow
I am solo
In this world of wet
And bitter is my temperament
I close the door to sentiment
And relish all my youth
I realize that I am doomed
Fear of love and fear of you
But you give me the keys to paradise
It is you who sympathize
You and your perfection grow
I am cradled in your ocean's throw
I crave your freedom in this little ship
For you alone can chart my trip
And like these waves I lose my grip
And I sink into your arms.

Enjoy, and I'll see you Saturday.

Quotes:

"Mawidge is a dweam wiffin a dweam....The dweam of wuv wapped wiffin the gweater dweam of everwasting west. Etwernity is our fwiend, wemember that, and wuv wiw fowwow you fowever."

"Inigo was in Despair.
Hard to find on the map (this was after maps) not because cartographers didn't know of its existence, but because when they visited to measure its precise dimensions, they became so depressed they began to drink and question everything, most notably why would anyone want to be something as stupid as a cartographer? It required constant travel, no one ever knew your name, and, most of all, since wars were always changing borders, why bother? There grew up, then, a gentleman's agreement among mapmakers of the period to keep the place as secret as possible, lest tourists flock there and die."

"They danced again; and when the assembly closed, parted on the lady's side at least with a strong inclination for continuing the acquaintance. Whether she thought of him so much, while she drank her warm win and water, and prepared herself for bed, as to dream of him when there, cannot be ascertained, but I hope it was no more than in a slight slumber, or a morning doze at most; for if it be true, as a celebrated writer has maintained, that no young lady can be justified in falling in love before the gentleman's love is declared, it must be very improper that a young lady should dream of a gentleman before the gentleman is first known to have dreamt of her."
~Northanger Abbey
by Jane Austen

"Charles was like most stupid people; he was not stupid all the time. He had occasional flashes of common sense, and even of brilliance. He had one now.
~Freddy and Simon the Dictator
by Walter R. Brooks

While standing out in the rain, playing volleyball, my friend said:
"It's like taking a shower....only less...naked."

"Finding interesting quotes was a hobby of hers. Her goal was to memorize the best of them, to use at proper moments later, in random conversations. Having found many on her own, she now wished to know her friend's favorite quotes, and whether or not they enjoyed her favorites."

New Background

I decided it was time for a change in backgrounds. I got bored with the other one. It was too wintery. Why should I have a winter template during winter? It just reminds me how cold and dreary it is outside. (okay, it's not all that dreary, it's actually quite sunny, but cold, yes!) In the winter, one should have a Spring or Summer template to help one remember how warm it used to be, and how warm it will be again. Having a cold-paletted Winter background just increases one's awareness as to how cold it is, whereas warmer colors help cheer and warm one up! Come Summer, I might stick a cold, snowy picture on here to cool you down.

I had all these quotes from books I've read recently to show y'all, but left my notebook with the quotes in it at home. (I'm at the library. And yes, I'm just that lazy!) =P So that'll be my next post on here: book quotes! Perhaps I'll have y'all try to guess what book each quote is from...make it into a contest.

Sledding Today

Some friends and I went sledding today and had some fun. =) I like sledding on warmer days when the sun is out and it's just warm enough to be comfortable. I discovered that my friend's sister and I can go down on our plastic toboggan with me standing up snowboard-style and her crouching in the bottom. It took some practice, but after one fail we made it down the hill twice. =D We're entering in the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Snowboarding on a Toboggan With a Passenger Onboard competition and expect to win by a landslide.

Hm.... Sledding was fun. We only stayed out there for 1 1/2 hours or so, so I could have lasted a while longer! ......I don't really know what else to say! Sledding was fun. Watching the Opening Ceremonies last night was fun. Having friends over to watch the Opening Ceremonies and spend the night was fun. (It was planned last-minute: it wasn't even official until 45 minutes before they came over! I just love having friends that we can do impromptu things with!!)

The Olympic stuff last night was fun to watch, with all those special light effects! I want to go to the Olympics some day. I'll save up for years and years (and years), and then, some year, I'll go to the summer ones. Winter is great, too, but it's cold! Who wants to go with me? =D

P.S. Who else is watching the men's speed skating? I like Apolo Ohno! His habit of waiting until the 10th lap to scoot up to first or second drives me nuts, though! I always think he won't make it in time.

School Stuff

I'm working through chemistry (as previously mentioned), and to entertain myself I've started giving chemists points for creativity, clarity, and such.
Creativity Points given for the word "Stoichiometry!" A very original, creative word, I doubt there are any others like it in the chemistry language! Easy to forget how to spell it, but more difficult to forget the word itself or confuse it with others.
Creativity Points removed for "molarity" and "molality." C'mon, surely they could do better than just change one leeetle letter, couldn't they? I understand that molarity came from Moles and molar mass and all that, but what's with the 'l' in molality??
Creativity Points removed for Solvent, Solute, Solution and Solubility. I know they chose similar words to show they're all related, but I always have to repeat them in my head to remember which is used for what.
Easiness Points removed for Pascals (Pa), atmospheres (atm), millimeters of mercury (mmHg), and torrs. 101.3 Pa = 1 atm = 73.15 (or similar numbers of) torr = 73.15 (see last parentheses) mmHg. As I have not yet gotten to the examples of the usefulness of these units, I cannot fully understand them, but....It's just further complications. torr = mmHg. Why? Why have both? It shall probably be explained to me tomorrow, but tonight: why?

I did a lot of ACT studies today. Worked all through the "ACT Mathematics Test: strategies and concept review" section, which I needed. It's amazing how much one forgets when one has not had any algebra for a couple years. Discovered I need tattoos. I want this tattooed up the inside of my left arm:
the definitions of sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent; An=A1 + (N-1)D,  An = A1(r)n-1, AX2 + BX + C = 0 (the quadratic formula), Y=MX+B (slope-intercept), and M = (Y2 - Y1)/(X2 - X1) (slope formula)
also I'll have whatever other important info I need to complete the ACT well. I wonder what the ACT people would do if I tattooed my notes on my arm? They can't take THOSE notes away!

two minute post

I have 90 seconds before the computer kicks me off, so I'll type all I can before then.
We went car shopping today. I saw and heard about more cars than I care to remember! Waaay too long out and about.
oops, 15 seconds left
That, my friends, is all I can type in 90 seconds. =D

Fail

I've Failed. Twice. At least, two times so far this year that matter at the moment.

Failure No. 1: Blog twice a week. Just missed that by a bit. =P But, to have 100 posts put on here this year, I can miss four total. So now I can only miss 3. Bummer.

Failure No. 2: I had planned to start a new series on here. Once a month I'd dive into my (somewhat limited) wardrobe and paste together a very---unique---outfit that might actually look good. And, obviously, I missed the first month. It's to try and show mixes of styles that people don't usually think of.
So, to rectify that failure, I'm going to post the January one on here. If it goes really well, I'll try to do this once a month. If it goes okay, I'll post pictures of my nutty outfits every other month. And, if no one likes it, I'll drop the idea for a while. Okay? Okay. (Oh, and I could use some help with the naming-thing, if you have any ideas...)

Introducing my first "Crazy-Yet-Still-Works" Fashion Post!
It's a new series I'm trying this year, where I dive into my wardrobe and paste together a very weird strange unique outfit that might actually look good. Joining me on this venture will (eventually) be my friend, HMS Avalon.

This month's outfit is modeled by me. I have on a brown thermal fashion hoodie from St. John's Bay that I bought at JC Penny's.

Over that I put a baby doll top, meant to be worn over a tank top in the Summer. (But, if I wore it that way, this post would be boring.)

I accessorised with a hot pink sash, as there is some pink in the shirt. I think the sash is a bit bright, compared with the rest, but it's what I had.

My earrings are from Candie's.

Levi Strauss (self-distressed by many years of love) jeans, Payless shoes.

I know, the pictures aren't all that great, but all I had to work with was a chair, a table, a chair on the table, and my camera's timer setting. Next time I hope to have a professional photographer (aka "Sis" ;).

Now it's time to rate the post. Go to the poll on my sidebar and let me know what you think!
