Happy Ganksthiving!!!

Howdy, everyone! It's that time of year again, when we gather 'round and munch till our hearts are content. And until our hearts are no longer content and burn within us. And that once-in-a-year'stime experience of turkey. My grandma knows how to make a gooood turkey. And we have our family recipe for Dressing (with oysters:), and fruit salads, and sweet potatoes, and I'm not sure what-all else we're having this year.
Pie. I like pies. We get four this year; pecan, pumpkin, cherry, and apple.
Mom and Grandma are saying that this year, everything will be ready to eat by 12:30 at the latest. LOL out loud! EVERY year they say the turkey and everything will be cooked and on the table by a certain time. And I don't remember eating before 2:00 on Ganksthiving. Ever. Let's see if they can get it on time, shall we? I'm taking monetary bets on this......;)

Why do I keep calling today "Ganksthiving"? Allow someone else to explain:

Most of the movie is irrelevant, but I think you'll spot the part that is relevant. :D

Um.
I'm working on a new post series to start on here in January, probably. But I can't tell you more, 'cause it's a s'prise. :) Which is too bad, 'cause it's really looking like a good idea!

Lastly, I'd like to know what made my last post so special? I got ten comments!! I haven't gotten ten comments in ages! What made y'all like that post? Tell me so I can do it again.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

What is so Difficult About...

...stocking jeans in size #*ahem* long?
...making sure that the Twix topping canister at Culvers is full of chunks, not just dust?
...making chemistry easy to understand?
...having a computer that works right all of the time?
...playing a larger variety of songs on the radio?
...making ipods cheaply?

Yesterday we went to Kohls to buy me some new jeans. I loathe jeans shopping! It always takes too long. Lee brand had no size *ahem* long! There were *ahem* short and medium, and all the other sizes had short, medium, and long, but my size didn't. We did end up finding the right size eventually, but it took a while, and it was a more expensive brand.
We ate at Culver's. For ice cream (or, shall we say, frozen custard), Iasked for chocolate with Twix pieces for topping. I didn't get that. I was given chocolate with Twixie dust. Can't they remember to add to the Twix regularly, so there's more left than just Twixie dust??
Don't get me started on the chemistry. Let's just say that I have a hard time understanding Dr. Jay L. Wile.
I tried to print something off the computer, but it wouldn't cooperate. And now it's slow at catching up with my typing.
I know for a fact that Michael W. Smith has more songs out than just "New Hallelujah," and same with Tenth Avenue North and "Hold My Heart," and FFH with "Big Fish." Why don't the play the others? I heard Switchfoot's latest three times in considerably less than twenty-four hours. They ought to consider playing some of the 'old,' 'retro' songs, like the ones from 1999 or 2000 or so....
Does it really, honestly cost $188 to design, make, ship, advertise, and still make a profit on an ipod touch??? Really? I find that just a little hard to believe. Ipod nano at Walmart is $139. The ipod shuffle (which I don't want. I mean, if someone gave it to me, I wouldn't complain, but I'm not going to go out and buy it myself, even if I had the $55.) I know that Apple is in this to make as much money as possible, but $55 sounds like a bit much for a wee little bit of fancy techo-gadgetry. *shrugs* Maybe I'm just a cheap-skate. Yep, that's probably it.

In the good news today, my art class ended Wednesday night. Did I mention that Mom and I were taking a Pen and Watercolor class? Oh. Well, I'm mentioning it now. It was 8 classes, one class per week. I wish it hadn't ended, but it was an hour away, which is a bit of a drive to take every Wednesday.
Everyone thought my sketches were so cute because I like to draw small (As in really small), which I thought was funny becasee I don't see them as horribly special! But they all thought it was "really neat." So for my final project, I did something big larger Huge. An elephant.

I think it turned out okay. :)

Well, I think that's as long as this post should be. If I make it longer, y'all are going to get tired of it.
See ya later

p.s. Try the new post editor! It's amazing. You can adjust the picture size an' everything quite easily, and it has all these other options that you don't normally get! You can turn it on under 'settings.' It's on the bottom.

Michael W. Smith concert!

Okay, here is the afore-promised concert post! The concert was amazing! Everyone was just as good live as they are on cd. If not better. And it was really cool, because the whole night only cost us $7; the $86 tickets were free, the gas for the car was free (It's my dad's work car; he gets free gas for his personal use :), all we had to pay was five dollars for parking and two for toll.
Okay, on to the interesting part: the singing!
Matt Maher (MM), Meredith Andrews (MA), and Phil Stacey (PS) came out first and sang MM's song "Your Grace is Enough" together, then MA sang two of her songs, one of which was "You're Not Alone." *melts* I love that song. :)
PS came on to sing "Unshaken," and a patriotic song that he wrote (loved that one, too!), and one I didn't recognize. He's good, too! (I have to admit, at first I was a bit prejudiced against him because of his American Idolishness. I don't like American Idol. All the hype about it [sorry, folks!] just irritates me. A lot. Because of all these people swooning over other random people who all sound the same. Anywho. Back to the pertinent facts...).
MM sang his radio hit "Alive Again," which, of course, was just as good live as in concert. He sang that and four others, one of which included a lot of repeats of "This is the first! day! of the rest of your life This is the first! day! of the rest of your life" and also of "Love! will! hold us together dadadadalateedalalalalalalala brother's keeper! lalalalalala" ['la's and 'da's and 'lateeda's are my own addition].
Then, during intermission, I saw that the lady sitting in front of us was one of the radio peoples for the station who gave me the tickets! So we sat and chatted a little bit about how we liked the concert so far, and stuff like that.
Michael W. Smith was next, with a surprise! His first song was one that all (or most) of us should recognize: "I Am Free!" [Y'know, the Newsboys maybe should have gotten Michael W. Smith to replace Peter, instead of Michael Tait! But I am really liking Tait so far, too, but this isn't a NB discussion, is it?]
MWS sang 17 songs total. I won't tell you all of them unless you ask me to, because I don't know if anyone is planning to go see the World Hallelujah Tour, and I don't think it would be as much fun if you knew what was coming when. But he sang "There She Stands," which is a reeeaaaallly beautiful song. President Bush asked him to write it several weeks after 9/11. *melts again* Oh, it's a good song. :) And he sang "Let me Show You the Way," one of my all-time favorites. I own the "Live the Life" cd, which is the one it's on. He announced all but two of the songs before he started them. 'Twas mildly funny when he announced "Let me Show You the Way," because I was the only person in the Whole Audience who clapped. It made me think "oops, maybe I shouldn'ta done that...." But I did anyway. At least he now knows that someone likes that song!! ;P

So anyway, the concert was incredible. All the artists were really good, all the songs were good (some more than others), all-in-all, it was a great time. Then afterwards we got to meet Matt Maher, Meredith Andrews, and Phil Stacey, which was cool. Still wish MWS had come out, but I guess the 'big' people rarely do, for fear of being mobbed.

Here are some pictures. I only took a few, and the ones I took were taken without flash, so most of them were blurry. I'll have to put a few on my photoblog, because I had some fun a few minutes ago goofing around with Picasa.
I'm going to have to show them backwards, because the computer won't let me switch them around on here, and I don't feel like re-loading them!
Phil Stacey and Li'l Bro. (This pic was supposed to go after the next one.)

Me, Li'l Bro, Meredith Andrews, and Rapunzel. (she's tiny! My brother's about five feet, five inches, and she's only a bit taller than him. And she may have been wearing heels, which makes her even shorter. Actually, she reminds me of a Barbie doll. Small, pretty, except Barbies are usually blonde. ANYway!)

MWS performing. For the World Hallelujah tour, they are getting local choirs to sing back-up to him. Isn't that a cool idea?!? I'd love to be in that choir.

We were that far from the stage! I'd say they were pretty good seats!

Pre-concert excitement. I'm on the left, with the silly smile. Oh, ugh, it makes me look like I have an extra chin or two!! Don't look at that picture anymore. I said don't look at it! STOP!! :D

Well I gotta scoot. Was this a detailed enough description, cousin, or do you want more?
See y'all later!

P.S. I am giving you due warning! I will be changing my blog background soon. Just so y'all know.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

I'll have a full write up of the concert, dear cuzzin, by early Thursday (hopefully), and complete with photos. I'd do it now, but I have only 5 minutes left on the computer, and that's barely long enough to load the pictures!
~Kiwi~

I'm 'fraid you'll have to wait for tomorrow afternoon or so! Sorry it's so late. I'm never on the computer long enough to write the whole post though!

I will be 64 miles away.
I will be sitting in a hugemongous concert hall (section 108, row K, seats 7-10)
I will be enjoying Michael W. Smith and all them. :D

Meredith Andrews

Phil Stacey

and Matt Maher

Enjoy the songs on here! I know, it's not the same as seeing them in concert (wheeeeee!!), but I thought you might enjoy it anyway.
And now I shall go. Smitty's about to come on stage...;D

132 Kleenexes........in 36 Hours

I have a cold. I reeeeaaally don't like colds. I have used up one entire box of Kleenexes in one and a half days.
132 Kleenexes times approximately two nose-blows per Kleenex equals 264 nose-blows, plus numerous uncounted Kleenexes.....times 60 hours of having this cold, minus (a measly) 11 1/2 hours of sleep, plus 6 cups of tea since Sunday evening equals one tired, crabby, unhappy, SICK Kiwi. :(

On to something more of general interest:
um.....I got nothing to say.

"you got something to say
If you're living
If you're breathing
You got something to say
And no one can say it like you do
God is love and love speaks through you
You got it, you got it,
You got something to say"

Sorry, Matthew West, you're wrong. Yes, I'm living, yes, I'm breathing, but I got nothin' to say.

Except.......Three more days until the concert!!!! I'm happeh. *grins ear-to-ear and does a little happeh dance*
Three-ee-ee
Mo-ar
Da-a-ays!

Daddy went and picked up my tickets last week. The people who printed the tickets are wet blankets!! "No cameras/video recorders" AAAARRRGH! No CAMERA?!?!? how unfair. I think that means "no taking pictures during the concert," which could be interpreted as "you can bring your camera as long as you don't take pictures or videos while the dude is singing," and if that is the case, I'm okay with it. Because I have to take my camera! What if I meet somebody? Am I to say "Well, sir, I would ask if I could get a picture of us, but I wasn't allowed to bring a camera, so will you hold still while I sketch the picture really quick? Won't take me more than fifteen minutes...Could you turn your head a little more this way, please?" Riiight.

We'll see. :)

In the mean time, I'll be banging my head against a brick wall, trying to knock myself out so I can get some snooze time!
~Kiwi~
p.s. I gave some of you awards! Check out THIS post.
