My days-late post

Sorry this is so late. But anyways.
We're at our grandparents' house now, so I'm gonna make this short...I've already spent too much time on here!

And I have a cold! In March! So I'm on Sudafed (sp?), on auto-pilot, if you will. Just going through the motions for now. I sure hope it's gone by Sunday. It's no fun having a cold in church! I either have to sit there and sniff, or disrupt the whole service by blowing my stupid nose!

Firstly, I'm excited because Daniel Kirkley has a new song out as a fore-runner to his new album! And it sounds good! Here's a link to the website where you can hear the song: http://www.danielkirkley.com/ He's doing a live video thingy on Monday of his performance, and then he'll be chatting with the general public. WHY ON MONDAY??? It makes me unhappy. You could say he's doing it for my birthday, but what good is that when I can't watch it, and even if I could....I can't hear it! Maybe I'll try to find out when he'll be chatting, and just get on then.
Of course, we'll probably do presents and cake earlier in the evening because Jordan has boy scouts to go to at 6:00. The concert starts at 7:30, I think. Drat Angus, drat him drat him Drat him!!!
That's what I'll try to do. Hope this works!

I finally got to see the video on Duncan's website. Here are three of my favorite quotes:

Habibi: "What kind of farm was it?"
Duncan: "It was a sod farm. Turf. Y'know, like...uh...grass."

Duncan's nephew: "Uncle Duncan, the boot's not closed! The boot's not closed!"
Duncan: "Abort, abort! We've got an open trunk, an open trunk, c'mon."

Duncan's nephew: "Something's wrong with you, Uncle Duncan."
Duncan: "Absolutely"

I liked the snake part too.....and the walkie-talkies.

There was one more thing, and now I forgot it.

The winners of Tuesday's Song Contest are: Zoe "Okay, this could be too totally obvious, but is the song for this post, "High of 75" by Relient K?" and Owan "Is the song High of 75? Best Relient K song ever? :D"
Congrats! Five points apiece.

Oh, now I remember! I'm changing Angus's name, in hopes that he didn't like me because I gave him the wrong name. His new name is Fritz. Because he's always on the fritz. I hope he likes his new name. I haven't told him about it yet....

so that's what's happenin'.

I think I'll end the post where it is, and go work on an old movie post.
Bye-bye-bye!

My Life--Monday, #2

This past week, my life has been interesting, boring, entertaining, and just plain dull. And everything in between. And so on and so forth, etc.

Wednesday night we had Bible study at a friend's house. It was interesting, although I sometimes have a hard time keeping my mind from going off on something else. (We're watching video-lectures.) And we stuck around for an hour afterwards, talking with friends Jumbo Shrimp and Kirsten and Noah.

Thursday we were bored. I had to slog my way through school, especially my half-hour-turned-hour-and-a-half chemistry lecture. Ugh. As I worked through the rest of my stuff, Mom said to me "You get your work done while I make us some comfort food. When you're done, we can watch a movie." Once I was done, we ate popcorn and no-bake chocolate/peanut butter/oatmeal cookies while watching Ballet Shoes. I enjoyed that movie because it was so true to the book! I thought they'd find a way to morph it, but they didn't. Posy was a bit older than I thought she should be, but other than that.... I'll tell you more about it on my Old Movie Blog sometime soon.
We were supposed to have thunder storms that day, but all my area got was a few feeble rumbles. I like a good thunderstorm during the day. And, since Spring is coming, we ought to get a few of those. :D (Once again I must say...Melikee Spring!)

Friday, Mom and Da Boys had to go out shopping, so she gave Rapunzel and me permission to go to the MALL for the day! :D We decided to invite Short Stuff and another friend to come along, so Rapunzel forced me to wait until noon to call. I did a lot of impatient foot-tapping. At last, we got to go. Short Stuff was picked up at 12:15 and we were off (the other friend couldn't make it)! I already told you all about the mall experience. We decided to see what was upstairs at Sears, just as an excuse to ride the escalators. We found a lovely little sale up there, in which I found my $60-reduced-to-$7.50-dress. Somehow, riding the escalators isn't quite as thrilling as it used to be. Huh.
We also had way over-priced ice cream cones ($2.42 for a little itty-bitty one-scoop cone. But oh-well, we didn't spend anything else, and it was good. :)
I was also thinking 'hallelujah, Sunday's not that far away!' because I hadn't seen Owan in two weeks.

I had a women's Quilting Bible study to go to on Saturday morning. We got instructions for a new quilt block which shall be altered for me due to it's difficulty. My friend Anna is coming over tomorrow afternoon to sew our blocks. I sure hope they go together well! I'll post a picture of my two on Wednesday or Friday. Maybe. If I get around to taking one.

Sunday we went to church. I got to see Owan at long last. Which reminds me: has anyone else (Blueh?) heard anything about In the Hands of God's release date being moved back to Jun 1st? I was listening to 20, The Countdown Magazine, and Jon Rivers said that he thinks ITHOG is being released then. I wish they wouldn't move it back, but if they have to, I guess they have to.

Today I had school. I tried to scan a painting onto Angus to make another card set, but the pale green background was turned to a sickly yellow by the scanner.
We warred more with the squirrel-who-eats-the-woodpecker-suet, and tried mothballs beside the feeder, which (according to Birds and Blooms Magazine) is s'posed to deter the squirrel. *raspberry* It don't. It looked at the mothballs, laughed, and ate the suet. So I threw rocks and sticks at it. (I did, too!) It just looked at me, smirked, and ate more suet. (I could almost swear I saw a little pink tongue come out and go 'Tbtphbpbh!' at me!) The stupid squirrel is so stupid it don't even know it's stupid!!! It's so stupid it doesn't even know when to be scared of something (i.e, a ROCK hurtling at its [empty] little noggin!!!). *raspberry* I'll git 'im eventually, and tack his mangy little pelt to the garage door.
ASPCA, I plead temporary and justifiable insanity. STAY AWAY! This one deserves what ever I do to it!

An' that's what I did today.

Song of the Day: Friday I snuck it past y'all! The line you were supposed to look for was "Every Little Thing" by Hawk Nelson, found here:
"Just about every little thing in the mall caught our attention. Even the ugly, huge-belt-buckle kiosk that was being set up...."
Hee hee hee. I just love sneaking it by. One point for Kiwi!
And, I don't normally put in a song title on weekend posts, but I did yesterday to see if you were looking. You weren't. So I'll give y'all until Wednesday to find yesterday's and today's.

badeebadeebadee, that's all folks!

P.S. Tomorrow's Duncan's birthday! Happy Birthday Duncan!

Random Friday

Hello, welcome to Random Friday. This marks one week of sticking to my schedule! Yeehaw! *parties*

Today we played hooky and, while Mom and Da Boys were out shopping for stuff, Rapunzel, Short Stuff and I went to the mall. I almost bought a dress ($60 down to $7.50). I had it set aside for me to pick up on our way out, and then Rapunzel got a call from her co-worker asking her to cover the co-worker's shift.....in twenty minutes! So we had to rush out and home so Rapunzel could work and Drat it ALL, I had to leave the dress!!! RRRGH! Why didn't I just pay for it and run it out to the car??? *stupidstupidstupid* Hmph.

We tried on prom dresses at Penny's. I tried THIS one, which, with straps, I would wear. Over it I had a lacy-silvery shawl, which helped with the strapless-ness. How can anyone bear wearing a strapless dress for any length of time? I was getting annoyed with it after just a few minutes. It definitely needed straps.
Just about every little thing in the mall caught our attention. Even the ugly, huge belt-buckle kiosk that was being set up. We're planning on doing that about once a month or so, on rainy or just plain boring days when there's nothing else to do. We hadn't made it to the Boston Store or Kohls yet, so that'll keep us busy.
I have never just gone to the mall for fun before! We rarely go there, but now that there's one just a few minutes away with most of the major department stores.

For the benefit of Short Stuff, Jumbo Shrimp, and Kirsten, here is a link to a realy cool site I found: http://www.recollections.biz/ Check it out! There're plenty of really nice dresses in there...but few under $150!

Owan guessed correctly in the Song of The Day game, getting both the title and the artist, and Friends of Narnia guessed the title. The song was "Nothing Left to Lose" by Jimmy Needham, and was found here in the second paragraph:
"Sorry folks, I got nothing. And since I've got nothing left to lose, I'm asking you to tell me what one topic I should explain to you or discuss or whatever! I'll make up for this dismal little post on the weekend."
Owan gets the full five points and Narnia will receive 2 1/2. Congratulations, folks!

Let's see, what else?

Oh, I got to chat with Duncan Phillips a wee little bit! I got on to chat with Skittles on her blog, and she was talking with Duncan, and she let me say Hi. :D That was cool! Skittles said she'd try to give me a comment with my portion of the conversation, so then I'll be able to tell y'all what-all went on. I asked where 'Oinch' and 'Squiz' came from, but they must have taken a vow of secrecy because he gave the common answer of 'Oh, you know nicknames. They just pop up and get used and no one knows where they come from' (only not in those words). I wonder if that's true? There's gotta be some story behind them, some explanation for their use! I think that there's some super-secret, 'Boyz-only story that they're hiding. We'll probably never know for sure.
I found a new NB site with a quick history of them. http://www.geocities.com/finnov333/nb-history.html Even if (horror of horrors) you didn't like the NBs, this is a funny read! Wow, did Peter look different with hair, especially long hair! I'm sooo glad he cut it eventually. Look at him in the second picture (that's him on the right....I think.). *shiver* "Pete, never, ever, ever wear your hair long again!
And I didn't know that Sean Taylor was part of the band at one time, I just thought he came in to write songs for them. Huh. Learn something new every day!

I was looking through my calendar the other day. March is chalk-full of birthdays! Duncan's on the 3rd, 11, 12, and 21 are friends' birthdays, Jordan on the 13th and me on the 23. A cousin's on the 25th. Anybody else have a March birthday?

Well, that's about all for now, folks. I got nothing else to say, except "I like breaded shrimp."
G'day, mates!
~Kiwi da Fruit

P.S. My Short Stuff just called! She had a dress laid aside for her, too. She and her mom are out grocery shopping and just happened to stop by the mall for her dress, and so she's picking up mine, too! THANKEE, SHORT STUFF!!!
I'll have to post a picture of it and my quilt block on here.

Random Friday Today!!

I know I just posted yesterday, but I need to stick to my schedule. Today is Random Friday. I have one day per week where I'm allowed to say a few random things.
Speaking of random things, look at what my Grandpa emailed to me:
""This is Grandpa speaking. I've been reading your blog from time to time and I think I may be reaching a conclusion. That being that your mom may be allowing you way too much time on the computer. Maybe I should talk to her about that. You keep typing long after you have run out of things to say. (more than smile......grin!) You need to get out more and do things. I hear yardwork is a worthwhile activity, even in "cooler" weather.""

That is why I'm working on THIS new format/schedule! I'm cutting down on my 'typing long after [I] run out of things to say' problem. And by the way, Grandpa, was that YOU who commented on my last post, harrying me about one simple, innocent slip o' the finger? Just wondering. It's not as if it bothered me or anything.

I heard "In The Hands of God*" last night for the third time on radio! Man, I love that song! They don't play it nearly often enough. So was that recorded before Paul left? I think it was released before then. I wish I had headphones for my radio, so I could turn it up loud. I was just about to turn out the light at ten when the song started, so I don't think Mom and Dad would appreciate me turning the volume up.

Mom and I went jeans shopping in Kohls the other day, and found something beautiful. The little dresses (such as THIS, THIS, THIS, and THIS). They are too short to be modestly worn by themselves, and slightly low, but....what about with a pair of white capris and a white tank top? I hope I have a chance to get one or two while they're on sale. Unfortunately, the sale price at the moment is $21, so I'd have to buy one and wait a while to get a second. Don't you just love Summer Styles and colors? And then I went on to find that the second pair of jeans actually fit! That almost never happens! I'm amazed. And they're the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever had. :) I like shopping when it works out right.

I am re-posting my awards post, as most of the people whom I awarded, I forgot to notify. Here y'are:
Skittles awarded me!!

Isn't it lovely? It's my first blog award. I loves my blog award. :)
There are some rules for this:
* Put the logo on your blog or post.
* Nominate at least 10 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude
* Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
* Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
* Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award

Here are the blogs I nominate:
Short Stuff

Short Stuff I know personally, and though she hasn't yet posted much (one line does not count as much), I'm sure she'll have many many interesting things to say.

And lastly, the winner of Wednesday's Song Hunt is....Nobody! The artists were Addison Road, with "Hope Now" from their self-titled album. Here is the paragraph where the title was found.
"And there! My post is done! I haven't written one this short in I don't know how long! Let me know what you think. I just hope now that you enjoy it."
So I think I should get points for sliding it past y'all! Good luck with today's challenge!

Now I must leave to eat supper. We're going to a "Women's Night Out" at church tonight, and I have to leave in half and hour.
So long!
~Kiwi da Fruit~

*by the way, the Hidden Song Title will not ever be as obvious as this. Just so you know. :D

A New Post #2 Five Blogger Points to Whoever can Spot the Song Title in This Post!

Man, I need to come up with a stock of better titles! Lately they've been getting worse and worse. Hopefully this is better than the last one.

Good news/bad news.
Good news: Avalon posted
Bad News: Avalon posted.
*Drat Angus!* We got it up to (hold onto your hats!) 133 comments! Isn't that amazing? Or at least kinda cool? Or slightly interesting? Maybe? *cough* So, she has continued her story some, if y'all want to check it out.

Um. What was I going to say?

I can't wait until Wednesday!! I get to see (hold on a sec. Mom's drooling over a label maker commercial. "I need a lllllabellll maker. Lllllllabelllll makers are my friends! I llllllove llllllabelllll makers!") two episodes of LOST in a row, due to missing it last week for Mythbusters. Oi, I wish They had kept LOST on at 9:00 instead of 8. Now Jordan always wants to see his favorite, Mythbusters, and so we have to take turns. And next Wednesday I have Bible study. Oi, I wish Angus would break this senseless vow of silence! (Oooh, I like using 'oi' as an exclamation! Maybe I really am an Aussie at heart.) The library won't let us watch it, as the computers are slightly too old or they blocked something or whatever. Anywhooze, the *hmph* point is they WON'T LET US WATCH LOST!!

But, Rapunzel is saying that I'm awfully negative, doing a lot of 'hmph'ing and 'drat'ing. She just called me a Negative Person!!!! How does she dare to do that??
"Quite easy. You're dark and depressing. Bottom of a well. With the first ladder rung out of reach. Maybe not that bit but...Kiwi! Not that! No!! *poke jab* I mean it! Don't say that bit!" (that was taken word for word from Rapunzel's big mouth.) "*Raspberry*"
"Right back atcha, 'Punzel!"

Aren't sisters wonderful?
"No, they stink! They're rotten, stinkin', devious little pests! Stop that! I didn't say stinkin'! You want to have hair tomorrow when you wake up, don't you? I'll pluck you bald....hair by hair!...........I should shut up now, shouldn't I?......Okay, you can put down 'clobber clobber!'" (please read disclaimer at the bottom)

um. *contemplates taking that out* *removes some of the more 'offensive' stuff* *disagrees with Rapunzel about what should and should not come out* *Kiwi wins!!*

ANYWHO! Back to an interesting topic.
I can't think of an interesting topic! My life is dull!

Yesterday, while doing research for History, I ran across an interesting (to girls) website: http://www.recollections.biz/. They sell Victorian, Edwardian, Civil War era, and pioneer-style dresses. I'm not going to be able to afford even one for a long time yet (and even then, I have no place to wear it to), but they're pretty to look at.

Hm. Oi, I sure do love to drive Rapunzel nuts! She's busy begging me to take even more of our conversation out. I'll give in a bit, so she'll stop 'jump starting' me.

And now, in the blink of an eye, my computer time is nearly up.
Ah, parting, 'tis such a sweet, sweet sorrow...

Let me know if any of you die so I'll know why you're not commenting. Because if you're not dead, you have no excuse for not commenting!! *coughdagmarcough* *coughmatttelldagmartocommentcough*

Rapunzel says I'm 'starting to babble' and to not 'start that again', so I'll stop and I won't, respectively. Oi. Sisters.

G'day!
~Kiwi

Please note: Rapunzel is not a shrew or a nag, she was not mad, she was playing along. Don't think that she's mean. Just....and older sister. Now she's leaning on me. "BUZZ OFF!"
Goodbye.

Blah Blah Blah, Yackety Yack Yack Yack, Yammer Yammer......(aka "Another Boring Post That Few Shall Actually Read")

That's an encouraging title, isn't it? I should rename it. I'll try to make it sound exciting, and make you want to read it b'cuz it looks interesting, and then squash your hopes with yet another dry, boring post. :D Yes, it would be mean and misleading, but last time I checked, it's a Free Blogosphere, people! If you got a problem wi' dat, you'll just have ta deal wid it!
Note to those who may not have read my blog before and may be slightly scared by that first paragraph: Don't worry, I'm just in a slightly stinky mood, which doesn't happen often. Continue reading and relax.

Someone (who shall remain anonymous, but she commented in the last post) told me that the 'Guess the Song' game was too hard. I admit, I tried to make it difficult, but I suppose other people just don't know their songs well enough to sing them all the way through and pick out the obscure phrases I used. So, you peeps have two choices:
1: Go back and try to figure out the songs, or
2: Wait for my next post, where I shall post slightly more well-known phrases from the same songs, but if you guess there you'll only get half the points.
3: (I know, I said 2 choices, but I changed my mind!) Just don't play.
Whatever you want. "The Reader is *Almost* Always Right!" is my motto.

We have passed the 100 comment mark in our Comment Blitz of Avalon, but methinks we are all getting bored with it. I know I'm starting to. Isn't that an awful thing? Getting tired of a movement you started? It's like.......*tries to come up with a good example*.........Skittles getting tired of watching Monk. Now that would be sad. (I know, that's not a perfect example, but I can't think of anything else.) I might start copying the comments from earlier this Blitz and re-using them on the same post. Can't you imagine Avalon's surprise when she sees two- or three-hundred comments?? I'd want to be there to see her face. *hopes Avalon is not reading this*
A Sudden Awful Thought: what if this doesn't work??? What if she is desensitized to the horrors of our Blitz??? What can we possibly think up that's worse? Hmm. Perchance, if our little Blitz fails (I wonder, what does 'fail' actually mean? C'mon, Kommander Kiwifruit never fails! If she failed, she wouldn't be Kommander Kiwifruit. She'd be Private Kiwifruit in charge of bathroom-floor-scrubbing-with-toothbrush! Have faith in me!.......and pray that it's not misplaced. ;P'), I will ask y'all for suggestions.
ho hum.
I have finished my cards! Not officially, 'cuz I haven't printed any out yet, but they're finished! Now, on to my next painting project, and then............(the following is to be said in a 'CHARGE!!!'-like manner) ETSY!!!!! And then (hopefully).......MONEY!!!! And then.......STUFF MONEY CAN BUY!!!!!! Like cds, tee shirts, concerts, dvds, ipods, cameras, COMPUTERS, cruises, cruises in the Bahamas, cruises to Hawaii, cruises in the Mediterranean, cruises to the Rockies, cruises, music cruises, etc, etc, etc.
Anywho. I need to print one out to send to my Great-Grandma, who sent me a Christmas present, and to whom I have not yet sent a thank-you card. I started out designing a thank-you card to send her but got sidetracked. I'll have to send her one of these to show that I really was doing something of importance, not ungrateful.
We went Kite Flying on Tuesday. We have a two-handled (trick) kite, which I like immeasurably better than the plain ole one-stringed kite. And yesterday it was calmer but we still flew the trick kite. It was perfect yesterday (except, Rapunzel says, for the cold weather, the this, the that, and all the rest.), so calm and peaceful. The kite, instead of shooting up into the air when released, just sauntered up slowly and calmly. It was a lot easier to control, so I could do 'swoopties' to either side with it, or even loopdeloops.
Today 12-yr-old-bro and I, Kirsten, Jumbo Shrimp, and their brother went into the woods for a while and practised punching each other. That needs a little explanation, I think. Punching as in faux-punches. For movies. 'Tis fun. I got to beat Kirsten up several times. :D We were working on shoulder-punches today. Next up, punches-to-the-nose. >:0D (<- evil-smiley-face with swollen nose)

Now, I'm going to announce a new nickname for 12-yr-old-bro. This one actually makes sense and will stick for a while. Jordan. Have any of you ever seen the Bernie Mac Show?
If you haven't and want to, be forewarned: you have to pick and choose the episodes carefully, and then keep your finger ready on the mute button.
Jordan is a lot like my brother. A Lot like my brother. (Or is my brother a lot like Jordan?.........)
Mom is making me end my post now, so goodbye.
~Kiwi~
P.S. Duncan Phillips has a blog!! And he likes LOST, too!!! Smart person. He's all the smarter if he can explain to me what's happening (in LOST). I'm LOST. :D
