My Life--Monday, #2

This past week, my life has been interesting, boring, entertaining, and just plain dull. And everything in between. And so on and so forth, etc.

Wednesday night we had Bible study at a friend's house. It was interesting, although I sometimes have a hard time keeping my mind from going off on something else. (We're watching video-lectures.) And we stuck around for an hour afterwards, talking with friends Jumbo Shrimp and Kirsten and Noah.

Thursday we were bored. I had to slog my way through school, especially my half-hour-turned-hour-and-a-half chemistry lecture. Ugh. As I worked through the rest of my stuff, Mom said to me "You get your work done while I make us some comfort food. When you're done, we can watch a movie." Once I was done, we ate popcorn and no-bake chocolate/peanut butter/oatmeal cookies while watching Ballet Shoes. I enjoyed that movie because it was so true to the book! I thought they'd find a way to morph it, but they didn't. Posy was a bit older than I thought she should be, but other than that.... I'll tell you more about it on my Old Movie Blog sometime soon.
We were supposed to have thunder storms that day, but all my area got was a few feeble rumbles. I like a good thunderstorm during the day. And, since Spring is coming, we ought to get a few of those. :D (Once again I must say...Melikee Spring!)

Friday, Mom and Da Boys had to go out shopping, so she gave Rapunzel and me permission to go to the MALL for the day! :D We decided to invite Short Stuff and another friend to come along, so Rapunzel forced me to wait until noon to call. I did a lot of impatient foot-tapping. At last, we got to go. Short Stuff was picked up at 12:15 and we were off (the other friend couldn't make it)! I already told you all about the mall experience. We decided to see what was upstairs at Sears, just as an excuse to ride the escalators. We found a lovely little sale up there, in which I found my $60-reduced-to-$7.50-dress. Somehow, riding the escalators isn't quite as thrilling as it used to be. Huh.
We also had way over-priced ice cream cones ($2.42 for a little itty-bitty one-scoop cone. But oh-well, we didn't spend anything else, and it was good. :)
I was also thinking 'hallelujah, Sunday's not that far away!' because I hadn't seen Owan in two weeks.

I had a women's Quilting Bible study to go to on Saturday morning. We got instructions for a new quilt block which shall be altered for me due to it's difficulty. My friend Anna is coming over tomorrow afternoon to sew our blocks. I sure hope they go together well! I'll post a picture of my two on Wednesday or Friday. Maybe. If I get around to taking one.

Sunday we went to church. I got to see Owan at long last. Which reminds me: has anyone else (Blueh?) heard anything about In the Hands of God's release date being moved back to Jun 1st? I was listening to 20, The Countdown Magazine, and Jon Rivers said that he thinks ITHOG is being released then. I wish they wouldn't move it back, but if they have to, I guess they have to.

Today I had school. I tried to scan a painting onto Angus to make another card set, but the pale green background was turned to a sickly yellow by the scanner.
We warred more with the squirrel-who-eats-the-woodpecker-suet, and tried mothballs beside the feeder, which (according to Birds and Blooms Magazine) is s'posed to deter the squirrel. *raspberry* It don't. It looked at the mothballs, laughed, and ate the suet. So I threw rocks and sticks at it. (I did, too!) It just looked at me, smirked, and ate more suet. (I could almost swear I saw a little pink tongue come out and go 'Tbtphbpbh!' at me!) The stupid squirrel is so stupid it don't even know it's stupid!!! It's so stupid it doesn't even know when to be scared of something (i.e, a ROCK hurtling at its [empty] little noggin!!!). *raspberry* I'll git 'im eventually, and tack his mangy little pelt to the garage door.
ASPCA, I plead temporary and justifiable insanity. STAY AWAY! This one deserves what ever I do to it!

An' that's what I did today.

Song of the Day: Friday I snuck it past y'all! The line you were supposed to look for was "Every Little Thing" by Hawk Nelson, found here:
"Just about every little thing in the mall caught our attention. Even the ugly, huge-belt-buckle kiosk that was being set up...."
Hee hee hee. I just love sneaking it by. One point for Kiwi!
And, I don't normally put in a song title on weekend posts, but I did yesterday to see if you were looking. You weren't. So I'll give y'all until Wednesday to find yesterday's and today's.

badeebadeebadee, that's all folks!

A New Post (duh)/Comment Blitz

This is (obviously) a Brand New Post. I figured it was because of the title. With a title like that, it has to be a new post. :P

Here is my first announcement: my friend, Kirsten, has started a blog! I told her I'd introduce her to the rest of my bloggy friends. Bloggy friends, THIS is Kirsten! Kirsten, welcome to our part of the Bloggosphere! On the right side of my screen I have links to most of my other readers, but a few are not linked so you'll have to go to the comments section. Skittles, Guitargirl, and Judi comment fairly regularly, so you can meet them on there through their profiles. Welcome to my bunch o' bloggy buddies! You ought to receive a beginning blogging welcome packet, but it hasn't quite been invented yet, so you'll have to do without. But feel free to ask me any questions you may have about blogs!

Here is my second announcement: As of 9:27 last night, The Old Movie Blog is updated and you are all invited to stop by and visit HERE if you want to read my latest post! And I have another movie review coming up later this week or sometime next week, as well. Feel free to drop in anytime!

Here is my third announcement: the new Newsboys site is finally up and running!!!! I just found that out, and I'm glad. :^D They now need to fill it out a bit more, as it is rather bare. I wish I could get on the message boards! If I had an email address of my own....
I can't wait 'till the new album comes out! If I only had an extra $14 lying around, I'd pre-order it and get In The Hands Of God and Houston We Are Go. RRRGH! WHY can't I just SNAP MY FINGERS and have ALL THE MONEY I WANT?!? probably because then everything would be way too easy and I wouldn't be misrable so often. :-P

Here is my fourth announcement: I have a quick, painless, three-question survey I'd like all y'all who read this to answer.
#1. What is your fun little weakness (such as chocolate, coffee...)?
#2. Where is your favorite place to visit?
#3. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I asked Skittles two of the three questions this morning, but didn't get to the third. To numbers 1 & 2, she said "CHOCOLATE!!!" and "Greece."
I asked one Adam Agee the same three questions, and here is his return comment:
"kiwifruit...
1. espn
2. grand cayman, cayman islands
3. hoo hoo"
Please respond, readers! Surely if Adam, who is a very busy dude, has time to dash off a quick reply, so do you!

Here is my fifth announcement: I have run out of announcements. Drat. I like to announce things.

Here is my sixth announcement: This is my 60th post! Which sounds great to me, until I look at Skittles' latest post...400th post. It makes me feel sad that I'm so way far back. *counts up posts* *tries to figger out a way to reach 100 posts by her 1 year anniversary* I have to post every 3.15 days in order to reach 100 posts by June 11th. That shouldn't be too hard (famous last words....)!

Here is my seventh (and final) announcement: I have no more announcements to make.

Let's see.... Oh! One very last announcement!

Here is my eighth (and very last) announcement: I am starting a new comment blitz! for the same person as last time, HMS Avalon. Here are the instructions: THE INSTRUCTIONS. Same place same person as last time. It has been over a month since her last post. Beg for more story, more about her life, anything, just ask for more posts!

Well, that's all that I can think of to post right now. Except that, at the Winter Jam concert, I got to meet Nirva, Shon, Brian, and Todd from the Diverse City Band, and Hawk Nelson. Nirva is very nice, and pretty, and I wish we'd been in a position to talk for a bit more. Shon was hawking their wares:
"Ice cold posters! Git yer ice cold posters he-ere! Oh, we have cd's, too. Do you want a cd?" he asked me.
"Sure," said I, playing the smart alek, "Give me some money, and I'll buy a cd!"
Shon laughed and 'bapped' my hat. Yes, Bap is a word. It's the sound that was made when my hat was hit. :D
And then Jason (?) from Hawk Nelson (whoever the lead singer is) signed by book "To [Kiwifruit], (heart) Jason, (smiley)" so we were playing around afterwards, pretending to be crazy fan-girls, swooning over the fact he signed with a heart. :D It was fun. I just wish we had been able to meet The Afters.

Well, I'd better go ahead and post this. See y'all later!

Heyz, I'm back!

Okay, Here goes. The Winter Jam concert was amazing and I enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. Stephanie Smith, I'm sorry to say, was not the best I've ever heard. She started the 'pre-concert party' right off with loud music that I couldn't understand. The only one I knew was "Not Afraid", which I hadn't heard since we moved four months ago. The best part about her performance was when some big, pink, hairy ape (I'm not kidding! Owan might have a picture to proove it...) ran on stage and stole her guitar.
Pure NRG was next, and they all have good voices but they're too.....Tweenish, if that's a word. For one thing, they perform on RadioDisney, so they have to be energetic and fast and do a lot of dancing and back flips, etc. Also, before the concert started and during the intermission, there were commercials for each of the bands playing on the screens. Pure NRG (made up of two girls and a boy) was advertising the "Precious Girls Club" where you can *plasters smile on her face and speaks in a very cheerful voice* "design your own Avatar, decorate your own room, and you can even earn wings so you can fly all over" this cheerful, happy town! Um, yeah. I looked at the site, and it's definitely for younger girls. And the poor boy had to help advertise for this totally girly site! Poor fellow. Needs a haircut.
Then Francesca Battestelli performed, and she was okay, despite the fact that I knew only one of her songs and she was quite reminiscent of Stephanie Smith.
Newsong came on after Francesca, and O boy, they were good! I've never really heard much of their music, but the ones they played, I knew. They did "New Song" and "Arise My Love". Wow, "Arise My Love" was amazing! No, amazing isn't quite the right word, but it's as close as I can get at the moment. Powerful? Anywhoz, they were great. And since I'd only ever heard them on the radio and didn't even know what they looked like, it was really weird trying to believe it was really them up there singing.
Hawk Nelson did a few songs (including "Friend Like That" and "Zero"). The lead singer (what's his name?? I keep wanting to call him Hawk Nelson, but that's not him.) had a smoke machine which he picked up and blew at the crowd. He also went down and sang in the audience some....but not near us. :(
INTERMISSION
The Afters were even better than I expected them to be! I'd seen a video taken at a live performance, and Josh sounded awful! But they were really good instead. They played "Never Going Back to Okay", "Ocean Wide", "Myspace Girl" (a really sweet song about how a former member met his wife), and "Beautiful Smile". I'm going to see them again! I hope.
Owan and her sisters introduced TobyMac by video, and then the Diverse City Band came on and.......TobyMac Himself! He's pretty cool. Loved his hat. They started out with "One World" (isn't there a 'Cheetah Girls' song by that title? Don't ask me how I'd know...) and followed with many, many, many others. Nirva is very pretty and has a beautiful voice, although we were kinda secretly hoping for Mandisa to pop out from backstage for "Loose My Soul".
Whoops, gotta go. I'll try to post tomorrow or day after? Oh, and Skittles, I'll show you that (heh heh heh) Secret Snow Weapon then. >:D
Adios!
