Hello, and welcome to My Life. Today I'll be going over the past little-over-a week and telling you what-all happened.
Saturday the 14th. Valentine's Day (aka Singles' Awareness Day): Mom made a pretty centerpiece for the table consisting of: a red place-mat covered with light, gauzy fabric, a wine glass filled with conversation hearts and Twizzlers, a Valentine card, and little candy hearts sprinkled o'er it all. I wish we had a picture of it!
In the afternoon, Monkey, Jordan, and I went over to J.S. & Kirsten's house for the afternoon. 'Twas fun! We played a few games, sang along with Short Stuff's Ipod, and practised The Play. Which of late has been known only as The Play. It used to be called "A Maid's Tale," but then the maid got cut out. I have one of the three lead roles....The Lady Constance, the Grand Heiress, and get to be all melodramatic and stuff. So much fun! Alas, Rapunzel and Jonathan were not there, so we didn't get a full practice in. Oh well. It'll get done eventually.
Skip down to Wednesday the 18th. We watched LOST in the evening, two whole hours of it. The writers have been wrapping up a few more of the threads, but another spool's-worth of tangled plot has been thrown in. I'm starting to be glad there's only one more season after this one. And I'm not gonna get to see it for who-knows how long because of Bible study! Yes, I know, Bible study is more important. I just wish that the two weren't on the Same Night. *sigh* Actually, the pastor's daughter told us to "go ahead and skip Bible study" (italics are mine) and watch LOST instead. Tsk tsk tsk. I think she was joking. ;^)
Friday the 20th: we went shopping and I found an incredible tee-shirt at Goodwill. Literally. It's red with a big 'I' on it with a swoosh around it and The Incredibles logo. It's cool. :) And know what was even nicer? When Short Stuff said "I love your shirt! Where'd you get it?" and I (finally) got to say "Goodwill." It's always the other way around, with others getting the good stuff at Goodwill. Turnabout's fair play, peoples!
There was a Women's Night Out non-sleepover sleepover at church where we stayed up late and played games and ate snacks until midnight. Games were so much fun! I was pretty good at Pictionary and Catchphrase. Then came the table (we were going from table to table, mixing up groups as we went) with the Ungame on it. Oi. The Ungame is a 'game' with no winning, no ending, no point to it except for you to share your feelings. I don't remember all the rules, but one where everybody has to agree to be silent except during their turn. (find the rules HERE) Julia was there at my table, and as the first rule was being read, she started giggling. With the second rule, I was laughing, and by the end of just reading the rules, most of our table was whooping with laughter to the point of little helpless moans. I almost died laughing. So much fun!! we played Catchphrase after the first two turns of Ungame. Why play a game with no winning, no losing, no foreseeable end, no actual point to it? I'm competitive, and I play games mostly to win. I'm not a bad loser, but I play games where you can win.
Saturday the 21st I was going to work on a quilt block for a bible study I'm joining, but we didn't have fabric we liked. So Mom went out and bought some for me, and it's awesome fabric!
Sunday I made the quilt block. It was fast and easy and I only made two minor, fixable mistakes! Yay me! I'll post a picture of it as soon as I can get one.
Also on Sunday, I realized something. I belong here!! I belong in this town, with these friends, and in this church! It's an amazing feeling.
"Created for a place I've never known
This is home
Now I'm finally where I belong
Where I belong
Yeah, this is home
I've been searching for a place of my own
Now I've found it maybe this is home
Yeah, this is home....
And now after all my searching
After all my crashes
I'm really coming home
I got a brand new mindset
I can finally see the sunset
I'm gonna call it home....
I've come too far
And I won't go back
Yeah, this is home"
(Switchfoot, "This is Home")
In Iowa I had friends an' ev'rything, but I didn't feel at home in church or youth group or in Mini-ville or the surrounding area. Talking with Judi helped me realize this: I haven't been shunned in the past five months. I have rarely heard curses in the past five months. I've been talked with every Sunday at church for the past five months. I've been a lot happier for the last five months. Yes, I miss my friends, and I miss going out to youth group every Sunday night, but I don't miss much else. And even youth group isn't missed a whole lot. I was getting pretty miserable there towards the end. Yeah, this is home. :D
Today I: went to the Library and got books and three cds and two movies. Started Chemistry. Here's my all-time favorite quote from the dvds: "....In a similar manner, you are a good chemistry student. Close your eyes and repeat this: 'I am a good chemistry student, I am a good chemistry student. Chemistry is easy!' Believe that, and it will happen." Um, yeah. I'm using The Great Courses from The Teaching Company as a precursor to Dr. Jay Wile's chemistry book. This consists of a dvd lesson followed by a problem set, and I enjoyed using it for Geometry.
Song of the Day Game: Friday's winners were Owan and Matt. The song was "Something Beautiful" by the Newsboys and was found in this paragraph: "Mom and I went jeans shopping in Kohls the other day, and found something beautiful."
Congratulations, Owan and Matt! You have each won five all-expenses-paid Blogger Points! Yay!
I have enabled comment moderation so that no cheating is possible and I can have two winners each day instead of just one.
And it's like me to ramble on and on at this point, but guess what? Y'all were just saved by my timer going off! Lucky for you....
S'long!

You should watch out for that Pastor's daughter, she sounds like trouble..
When I wake up I reach up behind my head and grab my iPod. So, today, I read your blog before I've even gotten up. The Goodwill part made me laugh. I sat up to see if sister is gotten up yet or was awake but, indeed, she has not.
Thus ends this lame comment.

Who's Jordan? It seams like I would know, considering he was at my house and all...unless I'm just that bad of a hostess, not to even notice who all came.
I loved your 'incredible t-shirt'! I need a Batman shirt now so that I can match you and Short Stuff!
I'm happy you feel at home here!
-J.S.-
I feel bad for whoever it was who would shun you because they missed out on an awesome friend.

Humn. I find it interesting that Same Night is capitalized, but since i have never heard a song with that name i guess it doesn't matter. :P

Kiwi, Dunny said he likes Psalms and Proverbs in general and 'specially psalms 112 but yeah i went on this thing that tells you a verse for whatever day you were born on and Dunny's is Psalm 3:3
But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
so yeah i just wanted to know whacha think. and since yer moderatin' comments you can just delete this one
